Please make the site in Swedish so my parents and relatives can use it also.

I have tried MyHeritage and geni but I prefer itsourtree.

Love your work.

I had previously asked that they have the program in Chinese. If you check the German site, with over 2000 users, there have been request in Turkish and Russian. This site has only 50 users and most are lurkers.

Itsourtree requires their language expert reside in Hamburg, Germany. That surprised me for an internet international company.

As a matter of fact, one of my heavy use participants jumped to MyHeritage.com where they have many more languages supported. This Israeli company has nice support for Chinese and the relatives were too intimidated by the English version. I don't blame them for if I only had to use the German language version, I would have jumped to Geni.com,

I think the programing on Itsourtree is more robust. However, the family tree depends on active participants and language interface is important. It is nice that even though my relative has his site in Chinese, a click of the mouse changes everything to English and I too can participate. Even though my heritage is in Chinese, I cannot speak nor read a word of the language.

Come on, Itsourtree, the competition is getting tougher in this global economy. MyHeritage now has some sort of revenue stream also. I would not want to see you get muscled out of the market.

disclaimer: I do not work for Itsourtree.com.

Having touted the site MyHeritage.com, I had a chance to play with the home program My Family Tree Builder and it's interaction with the MyHeritage web site.

Remember that a lot of work goes into any individual family tree. An active tree on the web has relationships changed, information modified, etc. Back up is very important.

The home version of Itsourtree is very accurate and can read all the GEDCOM information. I commpare the home version with PhyGedView and whereas the latter is more powerful, the itsourtree home is still a very good GEDCOM viewer.

You have to back up your work. The GEDCOM export from MyHeritage is not as accurate as Itsourtree.com. Also the programing algorithm and logic for any tech savvy user does not make sense and it is easy to have multiple identities unbeknownst to the user. The menus don't make sense and the flow is not as smooth as Itsourtree.

Despite the language options available, the poor function and lack of smooth interaction, and the difficulty of backing up your files accurately, all of which show that MyHeritage.com has a way to go to catch up to Itsourtree. I read on MyHeritage.com's forums that user feedback is not incorporated into improving the program.

If you need the language options of MyHeritage.com, I recommend you let your relatives add data using MyHeritage.com as a 'front end' and then you manually transfer the data to Itsourtree. From there you back up regularily. It is double work, but you will always have an accurate copy on your hard drive

Until Itsourtree has more language options, I recommend you use MyHeritage.com as a middleman.
