Ellis Island Passenger Lists

In seeking their roots genealogists often face difficulties. Incomplete information or no information at all, difficulties in obtaining news, even if you know that years before the family emigrated abroad: all these problems are not unusual. For the letter case, the Official Ellis Island website has passenger lists online that can be searched for free. If you know that your family emigrated to the US, they might have ended up on Ellis Island, the famous portal to the US for many immigrants from Europe. Maybe you find your forefathers’ name.

Genealogy Gadget II

In the past, we recommended a useful little online gadget that lets you search the Library of Congress’ American Memory database. Today’s gadget works quite similarly, but this one automatically searches the free interment.net Cemetery Records database.

According to the website, currently there are 3,897,472 cemetery records across 8,375 cemeteries available for search. So type in your last name and see what happens. Maybe you find ancestors you didn’t know about!
